Application:

Often called coax for short, coaxial cables are a must-have for transmitting audio/video and broadband signals.

Getting the right type matters a lot if you want to send and receive data over distance without losing too much

signal strength along the way. The four main types you'll come across are RG6, RG58, RG59, and RG11.

 

Unlike RG59, RG58 is a separate coaxial cable type with a 50 Ohm impedance—lower than the 75 Ohm norm for

most coax cables. This lower impedance makes it ideal for amplifying low-frequency audio signals in radio and

two-way radio setups. RG58 is also commonly found in lab testing and measurement equipment.
